1. Where are you now?
I am currently living at King's College at the University of Queensland in Brisbane
2. What do you do?
I am in my second year of study at UQ. I'm studying Mechanical Engineering and Business Management
3. What did you do after graduating at SLAS?
After graduating I was fortunate enough to spend a month touring the United States playing basketball before commencing my study at UQ
4. What was your favorite memory from your time at SLAS.?
My favorite memories from my 13 years of schooling at St Luke's would probably have to be Grade 12. Leading Browning House, having fun with my mates and the end of year festivities were definitely highlights of my time at the school. I have fond memories of all my teachers and am very thankful for all the experiences, opportunities and life long friendships the school has given  me.

SLAS Graduate 2005 - Jeremy Russo.

Hi Robbo
1. Where are you now?
I am living in Bundaberg.
2. What do you do?
I work in partnership with my father & brother, on our sugar cane properties in Childers. I also still enjoy playing touch each week.
3. What did you do after graduating at SLAS?
After graduating SLAS, I completed an electrical apprenticeship. I then spent 4 years in the coal mining industry. Working in the coal processing area, in and around Middlemount up until last year when I returned home to start work on the farm.
4. What is your favourite memory from your time at SLAS?
Sports dinners were always something I looked forward. The amazing guest speakers, from the very funny Duncan Armstrong to Wayne Bennett who captivated the entire audience. The video skits by senior students were also a great part of the sports dinners. Certain teachers who enjoyed a joke and a laugh with students were a great part of SLAS, along with the great life friends that were made in the classroom.

SLAS Graduate 2007 - Nic Gibson

Hi Mr R.

Where are you now?
Currently living back in Bundaberg after traveling overseas and living in Gladstone for almost 4 years.

What do you do?
I am a University student at CQU Bundaberg, 1st year in Bachelor of Education Secondary minoring and majoring in Mathematics and Health and Physical Education. Have just started pre-service teaching at St Luke's Anglican School.

What did you do after graduating St Luke's Anglican School?
Upon finishing up at St Luke's I worked in many fields such as locksmithing and security, floor sanding and scaffolding. Most recently just finished up as a Process Technician at Rio Tinto Alcan. I have had many other labouring jobs during that time as well, until finally deciding to go back to University.
During this time I also traveled overseas to America, New Zealand and Japan. Japan being the most recent and exciting country I visited. I Backpacked for a one month period with no set times or places to be. Traveled from the top of the main land, Osorezan near a town called Mutsu, down to the southern area of Japan's mainland, Nagasaki. I traveled up and down both East and the West coasts of Japan, doing nearly a full round trip.

What is a favourite memory of St Luke's?
The general community of the school, I have always remembered St Luke's as a close community rather than a school. If I had to select one memory in particular it would have to be physics classes with my still good friend Lance Sisolo and our antics we would get up to.

SLAS Graduate 2000 - Natalie Rethamel (Natalie Warburton)

Hi Robbo
I live in Bundaberg and work in our business, my husband and I. After graduating from SLAS I attended Hervey Bay TAFE and completed my diploma in Fitness and Recreation. This enabled me to further my studies at CQU by starting to do a teaching degree. I soon found out that teaching wasn't for me. I became engaged to my husband Dale and a few years later we purchased the business Takalvans. We have now owned the business for 10 years and are incredibly proud of what we have achieved with lots of hard work and no financial backing. We have three fantastic children Jack 6, Emma 3 and Harry 1. Both Jack and Emma attend SLAS and they look forward to going every day. I am sure our children's experience at SLAS will be no different to mine. My favourite memories were of the mate ship developed through sport, especially touch football. Not everyone can be top of the class but if a school can support your talents and know you as a person the sky's the limit. I have not looked back after graduating from SLAS and I look forward to our children receiving the same level of support and guidance through their schooling. Maybe Robbo may even get to coach Emma in touch footy.

SLAS Graduate 2001- Mitch Davis.

Hi Robbo, I have recently moved back to Bundaberg with my family after spending 13 years living on the Gold Coast. I have been back for just over 6 months and I'm extremely pleased we made the move. I am a physiotherapist at Coral Coast Physiotherapy in Bargara. My niche areas of interest are injury management in endurance athletes, lower limb injuries and exercise based rehabilitation. After graduating from St Luke's I moved south to the Gold Coast to complete a Bachelor of Exercise Science at Griffith University. I followed this up with a Masters of Physiotherapy also at Griffith. I then spent the following years working in a sports physiotherapy practice in Robina. My favourite memory of my time at St Luke's would have to be winning Queensland All Schools touch footy competition in 2000. We trained really hard for that and it paid off. A close second would be the week of the Confraternity Shield when it was held in Bundy, a great competition with some good mates. Thanks Robbo, all the best. Mitch Davis, Physiotherapist.

SLAS Graduate 2014 - Claudia Marcus

Hi Mr Robinson! 

Q1. Where are you now?

I am living in Brisbane so that I can attend university.

Q2. What do you do?

I am a second year university student studying a Bachelor of Music (BMus) at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. I am studying Classical Voice and also incorporating cello into some of my courses. I am a member of the Griffith Honours College which consists of the top 2% of undergraduate students at the university. I successfully auditioned for the Val Machin scenes of “The Magic Flute” this year alongside another Old Saint, Emily McWhirter-Peddlesden. Currently, I have a casual weekend job to save up for a trip to America in January next year to tour with Gondwana Chorale; an organisation that I was a part of and toured internationally with throughout high-school that is based in Sydney.

Q3. What did you do after graduating at SLAS?

I graduated St Luke’s already having an offer for tertiary study from the Conservatorium. I worked part-time over the summer break and moved to Brisbane to commence university. I began teaching piano and singing to private students and also tutored primary students in Maths and English during my first year out of high-school.

Q4. What is your favourite memory from your time at SLAS?

My favourite memories of school were all created during music and drama rehearsals and performances. I valued the fluidity of friendships between year levels within the music department. On reflection, I commenced university with the advantage of a broad musical knowledge and skill set, surpassing that of my peers from around Australia. For that I have to thank the music teachers at St Luke’s, in particular Peter Rickert and Robert Rotar whose dedication, inspiration and flair was invaluable and integral in my decision to pursue a career in music.

SLAS Graduate 2001 - Majella Russo

Hi Robbo
1. Where are you now? I currently live in Brisbane.
2. What do you do? I am a radiation therapist at one of the major hospitals in Brisbane, so I am involved in the planning and treatment of patients who have cancer using radiation. I am also involved in some in-house research projects and had my first research article published late last year.
3. What did you do after graduating at SLAS? After high school I went to university at UQ and did a Bachelor of Science degree and then completed my Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Radiation Technology degree at QUT. I also joined a touch football club at UQ which I still play for today - this year I've taken over the role as President for the club.
4. What is your favourite memory from  your time at SLAS? Plenty of good memories with friends on touch football trips; sports days and school formal.
