Hi Mr Robinson
1. I'm on the verandah with small mosquitoes daring me to stay out longer. In Broome with Emma.
2. What do I do? Complex question because I don't think I fit a specific job title but I have been working as a tour guide. A pearl farm being my latest workplace.
3. After leaving St Lukes I  worked, travelled, worried about life with responsibility, became a student again, travelled in between, fell for a woman, heartbreak, repeat, worked, travelled, repeat.
4. Nobody wants to be at school when they have to. St Lukes was no different. I would much rather have been at the beach. I can tell you in hindsight though, it is likely there will never again be a time when I can hang with so many friends everyday. Isn't hindsight so most bittersweet!

1. Where are you now?
I now live in Brisbane with 3 of my good friends made at SLAS.
2. What do you do?
I now study full-time in a Bachelor of Nursing at ACU, I joined the University  Cheerleading club and I work part-time at a jewllery store
3. What did you do after graduating at SLAS
I worked 3 jobs to save for the move to Brisbane.
4. What is your favourite memory from your time at SLAS?
It would have been coming back to the school after leaving for 3 years. All the teachers were so welcoming and all remembered me still and especially to be welcomed back into the cohort with open arms and making life long friends. I was given so many academic and definietly sporting opportunitied and I owe it to St Luke's Anglican School for where I am today.

3. What did you do after graduating at SLAS?
After graduating I was fortunate enough to spend a month touring the United States playing basketball before commencing my study at UQ
4. What was your favorite memory from your time at SLAS.?
My favorite memories from my 13 years of schooling at St Luke's would probably have to be Grade 12. Leading Browning House, having fun with my mates and the end of year festivities were definitely highlights of my time at the school. I have fond memories of all my teachers and am very thankful for all the experiences, opportunities and life long friendships the school has given  me.

1. Where are you now?
I am living in Bundaberg.
2. What do you do?
I work in partnership with my father & brother, on our sugar cane properties in Childers. I also still enjoy playing touch each week.
3. What did you do after graduating at SLAS?
After graduating SLAS, I completed an electrical apprenticeship. I then spent 4 years in the coal mining industry. Working in the coal processing area, in and around Middlemount up until last year when I returned home to start work on the farm.
4. What is your favourite memory from your time at SLAS?
Sports dinners were always something I looked forward. The amazing guest speakers, from the very funny Duncan Armstrong to Wayne Bennett who captivated the entire audience. The video skits by senior students were also a great part of the sports dinners. Certain teachers who enjoyed a joke and a laugh with students were a great part of SLAS, along with the great life friends that were made in the classroom.

SLAS Graduate 2007 - Nic Gibson

Hi Mr R.

Where are you now?
Currently living back in Bundaberg after traveling overseas and living in Gladstone for almost 4 years.

What do you do?
I am a University student at CQU Bundaberg, 1st year in Bachelor of Education Secondary minoring and majoring in Mathematics and Health and Physical Education. Have just started pre-service teaching at St Luke's Anglican School.

What did you do after graduating St Luke's Anglican School?
Upon finishing up at St Luke's I worked in many fields such as locksmithing and security, floor sanding and scaffolding. Most recently just finished up as a Process Technician at Rio Tinto Alcan. I have had many other labouring jobs during that time as well, until finally deciding to go back to University.
During this time I also traveled overseas to America, New Zealand and Japan. Japan being the most recent and exciting country I visited. I Backpacked for a one month period with no set times or places to be. Traveled from the top of the main land, Osorezan near a town called Mutsu, down to the southern area of Japan's mainland, Nagasaki. I traveled up and down both East and the West coasts of Japan, doing nearly a full round trip.

What is a favourite memory of St Luke's?
The general community of the school, I have always remembered St Luke's as a close community rather than a school. If I had to select one memory in particular it would have to be physics classes with my still good friend Lance Sisolo and our antics we would get up to.

SLAS Graduate 2000 - Natalie Rethamel (Natalie Warburton)

Hi Robbo
I live in Bundaberg and work in our business, my husband and I. After graduating from SLAS I attended Hervey Bay TAFE and completed my diploma in Fitness and Recreation. This enabled me to further my studies at CQU by starting to do a teaching degree. I soon found out that teaching wasn't for me. I became engaged to my husband Dale and a few years later we purchased the business Takalvans. We have now owned the business for 10 years and are incredibly proud of what we have achieved with lots of hard work and no financial backing. We have three fantastic children Jack 6, Emma 3 and Harry 1. Both Jack and Emma attend SLAS and they look forward to going every day. I am sure our children's experience at SLAS will be no different to mine. My favourite memories were of the mate ship developed through sport, especially touch football. Not everyone can be top of the class but if a school can support your talents and know you as a person the sky's the limit. I have not looked back after graduating from SLAS and I look forward to our children receiving the same level of support and guidance through their schooling. Maybe Robbo may even get to coach Emma in touch footy.

SLAS Graduate 2001- Mitch Davis.

Hi Robbo, I have recently moved back to Bundaberg with my family after spending 13 years living on the Gold Coast. I have been back for just over 6 months and I'm extremely pleased we made the move. I am a physiotherapist at Coral Coast Physiotherapy in Bargara. My niche areas of interest are injury management in endurance athletes, lower limb injuries and exercise based rehabilitation. After graduating from St Luke's I moved south to the Gold Coast to complete a Bachelor of Exercise Science at Griffith University. I followed this up with a Masters of Physiotherapy also at Griffith. I then spent the following years working in a sports physiotherapy practice in Robina. My favourite memory of my time at St Luke's would have to be winning Queensland All Schools touch footy competition in 2000. We trained really hard for that and it paid off. A close second would be the week of the Confraternity Shield when it was held in Bundy, a great competition with some good mates. Thanks Robbo, all the best. Mitch Davis, Physiotherapist.

SLAS Graduate 2014 - Claudia Marcus

Hi Mr Robinson! 

Q1. Where are you now?

I am living in Brisbane so that I can attend university.

Q2. What do you do?

I am a second year university student studying a Bachelor of Music (BMus) at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. I am studying Classical Voice and also incorporating cello into some of my courses. I am a member of the Griffith Honours College which consists of the top 2% of undergraduate students at the university. I successfully auditioned for the Val Machin scenes of “The Magic Flute” this year alongside another Old Saint, Emily McWhirter-Peddlesden. Currently, I have a casual weekend job to save up for a trip to America in January next year to tour with Gondwana Chorale; an organisation that I was a part of and toured internationally with throughout high-school that is based in Sydney.

Q3. What did you do after graduating at SLAS?

I graduated St Luke’s already having an offer for tertiary study from the Conservatorium. I worked part-time over the summer break and moved to Brisbane to commence university. I began teaching piano and singing to private students and also tutored primary students in Maths and English during my first year out of high-school.

Q4. What is your favourite memory from your time at SLAS?

My favourite memories of school were all created during music and drama rehearsals and performances. I valued the fluidity of friendships between year levels within the music department. On reflection, I commenced university with the advantage of a broad musical knowledge and skill set, surpassing that of my peers from around Australia. For that I have to thank the music teachers at St Luke’s, in particular Peter Rickert and Robert Rotar whose dedication, inspiration and flair was invaluable and integral in my decision to pursue a career in music.

SLAS Graduate 2001 - Majella Russo

Hi Robbo
1. Where are you now? I currently live in Brisbane.
2. What do you do? I am a radiation therapist at one of the major hospitals in Brisbane, so I am involved in the planning and treatment of patients who have cancer using radiation. I am also involved in some in-house research projects and had my first research article published late last year.
3. What did you do after graduating at SLAS? After high school I went to university at UQ and did a Bachelor of Science degree and then completed my Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Radiation Technology degree at QUT. I also joined a touch football club at UQ which I still play for today - this year I've taken over the role as President for the club.
4. What is your favourite memory from  your time at SLAS? Plenty of good memories with friends on touch football trips; sports days and school formal.

SLAS Graduate 2000 - David Zanette

1. I live in Rockhampton Queensland
2. I own my own electrical contracting business with a team of 4 staff. 
3. After graduating I completed an Electrical apprenticeship and continued playing touch football in which I am a current member of the QLD Open men's. I was lucky enough to win a World Cup with the Australian side last year.
4. Best memories of St Lukes would have to be on the sporting fields. Especially, 2000, winning QLD All Schools. However the best attribute was the participation of everyone in all aspects of the school. Always encouraged for having a go.

1. Springsure, Queensland. There are more cows than people out here.
2. I work as a mining engineer in a large, open cut coal mine. I also do things like play sport, go camping and travel to Brisbane to catch up with my friends from SLAS.
3. Dug a hole at the beach. After the summer holidays, I started studying at UQ in Brisbane.
4. Having everything at your fingertips. St Lukes is a place full of opportunity: Teachers are passionate, the school community is caring and activities are well resourced.

1. Where are you now?
After finishing school I moved to Brisbane for university and currently situated in St Lucia.

2. What do you do?
I am currently studying a Bachelor of Health, Sport and Physical Education at the University of Queensland. I am in my second year and I am a full time student.

3. What did you do after graduating at SLAS?
After graduating from SLAS I enrolled at the University of Queensland. I also kept involved in my golfing career by becoming a member at Indooroopilly golf club.

4. What is your favourite memory from your time at SLAS?
All the memories I have taken from SLAS I will alway cherish, but my favourite memories would be leading the Noble House to victory, HPE sessions with Parso and Ancient History classes with Mrs Hill. Can't beat that.

Where are you now?
I am currently living in Brisbane whilst studying at the University of Queensland.

What do you do?
Currently I am studying a Bachelor of engineering (Hons)/Bachelor of Commerce with a civil engineering major at the University of Queensland in Brisbane. I have completed 1.5 years of the 5.5 year degree and am hoping to pursue a job within the finance sector.

What did you do after graduating at SLAS?
After graduating I immediately commenced my degree and had the fortune of being accepted into King’s College which was my place of residence for my first year of studies.

What is a favourite memory from your time at SLAS?
SLAS provided me an enormous range of experiences that I could not have otherwise had. My favourite memory however was the friendly and supportive culture that the staff and students of the school created.

1. I'm in Brisbane studying at UQ.
2. I'm studying a Bachelor of Science. I am currently half way through the three year degree, and once complete, I will continue my studies to complete a Doctor of Medicine.
3. I commenced university studies straight after graduating from high school.
4. My fondest memories of my three years at St. Luke's were definitely from Year 12, most notably the Service Tour to Uganda, as well as the ever friendly and supportive teachers.
I've continued my equestrian pursuits and have found it to be a great way to balance my study time and get me out of the city, staying true to my rural roots.

SLAS Graduate 2007 - Kieran Branson

Where are you now?  What do you do?

I'm still here!  I have returned to St Luke's for 2016 to fill in for Herr Preuss as German Teacher.  This is my first job as a secondary teacher, and it's such a privilege to be back.

What did you do after graduating SLAS?

Things never quite go to plan... I had always intended to be a dentist, but after finishing at St Luke's in 2007, I found myself studying a Bachelor of Arts in my first year at the University of Queensland.  My majors were German and Spanish.  I had the great fortune of being able to spend a year on exchange in Vienna, Austria, where I continued my studies in German and Spanish.  Upon returning to Australia, I completed my BA and eventually decided to go back to university to become a teacher.  I also spent several months of 2015 in Munich, Germany, working for an intercity coach company.

What is your favourite memory from your time at SLAS?

My fondest memories are of the many activities I was involved in with Mr Rotar and Mrs Hutchings in the Performing Arts department.  I really had a positive experience in my 11 years at St Luke's, and things have only got better in the years since!

SLAS Graduate 1998 - Jarod Tump

Hi Robbo,

After graduating I moved to Brisbane to start the next phase of my life. I wasn’t that interested in going to Uni so I found myself a job and worked hard, which ultimately led to where I am today. I also continued to play touch football at a fairly high level representing Qld and Australia.

Today I work for Dynamic Supplies who are a leading printer and print consumables distributor as the National account manager. My role is very challenging and fulfilling. I started out in the warehouse as a storeman and worked my way up in this business through a lot of hard work and dedication. The accounts I manage today total approximately 100 million dollars.

I live on 5 acres with my beautiful wife and baby boy. I have a border collie and a few horses. So plenty to keep me busy.

I dropped into St Luke’s last year at Christmas time and it really did bring back some great memories, too many to list. The biggest thing that I took away from my time at St Luke’s was the respect I learnt. I was only at St Luke’s for a few years, but the time I spent there set me on the right path. I owe so much to where I am now and the person I am to my time at the school.  I will always have fond memories of all the friends I made with both the students but also the teachers.

Dear Peter,

1.  Where are you now?

I work in the Surat Basin, Queensland.  I  work there for 2weeks straight, then have 2 weeks off work.   I own a house in Bundaberg where I live on my 2 weeks off.

2.  What do you do?

My title at work is Mechanical Construction Supervisor within the Coal Seam Gas Industry.  I am in charge of a group of around 8-10 men, and  I am responsible for organising and supervising  fortnightly work projects.

3.  What did you do after graduating at SLAS?

I gained a Fitter and Turner Apprenticeship with the Bundaberg Regional Council in 2003.  On completing my 4 year Apprenticeship I moved to Brisbane to further my employment prospects which began with the Brisbane City Council in 2007.   

4.What is a favourite memory from your time at SLAS?

My education at SLAS began when I entered Year 8.  A very clear memory for me regarding my 5 years at St Luke's is the interactive learning in the classroom/workshop with excellent teacher support.  My favourite subjects were "Industrial Skills"  and "Senior Technology Studies".   I had a high regard for our Teacher at the time, Mr McCulloch. 

I also established some very genuine friendships during my years at SLAS, and these friendships are even stronger today, we are now all parents ourselves and regularly keep in touch.

SLAS Graduate 1999 - Chantell Martens (Chantell Rice)

Hi Mr Robinson.
1. I am currently living in Bundaberg and taking my own son to St Luke's Anglican School.
2. I am a Mum to two children, working as a part-time Accountant for our family business Marto Farms and Bundaberg Regional Council and still training enough to win 8 gold and 1 silver at this years Masters Swimming State Championships.
3. After graduating I completed a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) degree and started working as an Accountant whilst I studied.  I love this career and hence why 17 years on I still enjoy being an Accountant.  Now that I am a Mum I love the mental stimulation and adult interaction that goes with the job!!
4.  My greatest memories at school was creating that family bond between all students, staff and parents and now that I return to take my own children there, there is nothing more rewarding then seeing and being greeted by familiar cheery faces.  Its like belonging to one big happy family.

1.     Brisbane, QLD, Australia

2.      I am currently studying my final year of a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting)/Bachelor of Business Management (Human Resources) at the University of Queensland. At the completion of my studies, I am looking forward to commencing a Graduate Role at Ernst & Young in the People Advisory Services department.

3.     After graduating at SLAS, I commenced a Bachelor of Commerce/Laws before finding a better fit in my current degree of Commerce/Business Management. I was fortunate enough to reside at the Women's College for 3 years, where I gained invaluable experience in leadership and built a network of friendships with like-minded people. In my fourth year of study, I pursued a semester abroad at the University of South Carolina in the US.

4.     I have so many great memories of my 13 years of schooling at SLAS.  Some that really stand out are the Confraternity Netball trips lead by veteran coach Ms Deer, where we enjoyed so many laughs and great netball competition as a SLAS team. I have found memories of my Year 12 classes, which involved quality-teaching support that I truly appreciated.

1. Where are you now? 

I am currently living and studying in Brisbane at the University of Queensland. 

2. What do you do?

I study full time at UQ doing a Bachelor of Business Management majoring in Marketing. I am currently half way through my second year of three years and I am thinking of completing honours in business management after I finish this program. 

3. What did you do after graduating SLAS? 

I started my bachelor of business management the year following my graduation. 

4. What is your favourite memory from your time at SLAS? 

I really enjoyed the three month exchange trip to Germany in 2012 and the Service tour to Uganda in 2014. But closer to home I have very fond memories of accounting with Mrs Weston and my time in the Worship band.

SLAS Graduate 2005 - Mitch Langerak.

Mitch Is living in Stuttgart, Germany.
He is a Professional Footballer.
After graduating from school Mitch went to the AIS in Canberra then signed in Melbourne for Melbourne Victory before going to Germany to play in 2010.

Mitch said "I have fond memories of my time at St Luke's so it's hard to pinpoint a single memory apart from the friendships I made and brilliant people who taught me and supported me including Peter Robinson and Principal Steve Croft."

Glen lives in Brisbane.
He is currently working for Queensland Touch Football as a Game Development Officer and is also studying a Masters in Business (Sports Management) at Deakin University.

Since graduating Glen attended the University of Queensland, completing a Bachelor in Commerce (Accounting). After graduating mid 2013 he spent two years working for an Accounting firm, Pivotal Partners, before moving to his current role at QTF.

Glens favourite memories of school include the lifelong friendships that were formed through countless hours of Sport and other School endeavors. Sarah Jhetam is in Brisbane studying at UQ. 

She is in her first year of study at the moment and is in residence at Cromwell College.
Sarah is studying - Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts, Majoring in International Relations and German.
Her favourite memories of school were the variety of classes she was able to take -

SLAS Graduate 2000 - Mitch Miller - Where is he now?

Mitch Miller graduated St Luke's in 2000 from where he relocated to Brisbane to study a Bachelor of Information Technology majoring in Computer Science at Griffith University.

Upon completion of his degree he began work for a logistics company out of Coffs Harbour as an IT Officer. An opportunity at the then Bundaberg City Council arose which attracted him back to Bundaberg in the second half of 2005. During his time with the Council Mitch held a number of roles including Network Administrator and Helpdesk Team Leader. In 2008 Mitch headed back to University to study a Masters of Information Technology majoring in Network Security. Having gained a broad range of experience throughout these roles and the amalgamation of four councils Mitch found an opportunity back at St Luke's as IT Manager which he commenced in January 2011.

Since being at St Luke's Mitch has completed a large number of hardware and software projects which has earned the school being featured in a number of online and magazine editorials. Most of these feature the innovative approach to cost effective deployments of enterprise scale productivity suites and cloud services to better support the school community and facilitate anywhere learning.

Mitch is quoted as saying his best memories from St Luke's are making friends who are still very much a part of his and his families lives today.
